An immersive ten-day national workshop focused on the study of Prakrit language and grammar, based on the classical text Prakrit Prakash. Conducted in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of Rajasthan, and Pandit Todarmal Smarak Trust, this workshop offers structured learning under the guidance of renowned scholars.
The National Prakrit Workshop is a flagship academic initiative of Samyakgyan Prachar-Prasar Trust, dedicated to the preservation and study of Prakrit—the foundational language of Jain literature and an important medium of India’s ancient knowledge traditions. Conducted in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of Rajasthan, and Pandit Todarmal Smarak Trust, it aims to develop serious learners who can engage with original texts.
Prakrit preserves a vast body of knowledge, including Jain scriptures and insights related to culture and philosophy. Understanding this language is essential to access the authentic teachings of Acharyas and to sustain this rich tradition.
Over ten days (21 June – 30 June 2026), participants undertake a structured study of Prakrit Prakash, covering key grammar concepts such as phonetic transformations (स्वर एवं व्यंजन परिवर्तन), word forms, and foundational linguistic structures. The program also introduces major Prakrit forms like शौरसेनी, मागधी, and पैशाची, along with guided reading practice.
The workshop combines theoretical sessions with practice-based learning, including practice session, helping participants build clarity and confidence in reading texts. Guided by experienced scholars, it offers a disciplined academic environment while fostering a deeper connection with Jain philosophy and knowledge traditions.
